For our most recent assignment we were tasked with creating a more effiecient hybrid car engine. I was paired up with Yazeed Hamami and Toran Moriyami-gurish. We spent quite a lot of time brainstorming for the perfect solution, an energy efficient vehicle at a cheap price.
Our first design was utilizing compressed air to our advantage. We placed the canisters on a small vehicle and we put 2 compressed air canisters for every trial we ran. We eventually abandoned this desighn because we learned that compressed air can be qiute unreliable. Otherwise known as, it kept blowng up everytime we tried it.
Our second design was mainly spring based like many other groups working on the same project. We acquired a skateboard and began working. We worked until we realized our design was not going to work. We kept tweaking and tweaking and tweaking untill we
finally gave up.
Our third design, the one that actually "worked" was using a battery powered engine yazzed had gotten. We bult that with some of Torans KNEX and used it as our final product.
While Toran and I spent our last few days tweaking it and calculating its statistics, yazeed was working on our presentation. The video actually worked very well. The video is below and since yazeed and toran spoke during the script, it is below the video.

In our video we discuss such concepts as acceleration, thermal energy, kinetic energy, potential energy, and velocity.
velocity: speed in a given direction, speed of an object moving a certain way.
acceleration: the rate at which something increases in speed, the rate at which something increases in velocity
kinetic energy: the energy an object possesses due to its motion
potential energy: the given energy at a given postion in its motion
thermal energy: the part of the total kinetic energy and the total potential energy that result in the system temperature.
In our video we present graphs of each of these subjects, relating time to distance, velocity to distance,
distance to acceleraton and thermal energy to kinetc energy and potential energy.
Throughuout our design process, we had many flaws and some successes. I learned that whatever the design is I will do
my best to make it work, and if it doesn't, I will move on.
I hope I leanred hat very many failures lead to success.
Our project had many pitfalls, such as our first two designs, but we eventually succeeded as a group.
